The Bionic Slave
rene got her MRI results back. She needs a complete knee replacement.
There are all sorts of technical terms, like torn meniscus and necrotic bone tissue, but that's what it comes down to.
She needs to have some tests to make sure she's up to surgery, and then goes under the knife sometime in August. Surgery, two to three weeks in inpatient rehab (if the health insurance will pay for it), and then some more recuperation at home.

a few things:
Whether you know it or not, I probably associate a song with you. Sometimes its easy to explain, sometimes its not. Sometimes its music you've introduced me to, a story we've shared together, stuff on the radio at a time we were together. Tonight was a CRAZY one after another following of songs that remind me of lovers or things that are important to me. It was NUTS. Plus I've only heard Dave Mason on the radio *maybe* like 5 times in my whole life, so to hear "we just disagree" was nuts! Other songs included Chess's "one night in bangkok", sarah bareillis' "love song" and sting.
I love that I have the means to buy really stupidly expensive Irish Cheddar, which I know I'm not going to finish before it goes bad, just because I wanted some on my sandwhich tonight.
I'm having crazy cravings for black licorice lately
Damnit there was more!!!! But now I've started IM'ing people and its all flyyyyyying out of my head.
I'm stupidly horny. I'm also very specifically horny. I have stupid amounts of housework to do. I have no desire to be responsible ANY MORE right now.

more random thoughts for the infirmed
So this was mostly a post of random things to entertain the infirmed but they've gone off to happy hour now because I totally got interrupted hours ago. However, I have since taken myself out to lunch and had a VERY tasty stick of black licorice so i'm going to finish and post anyways.
You know how sometimes you sing along to a song for years and years and then one day you find out you've been singing the wrong words?
Well my sorority has this song we sing, but its made up words to this really pretty song. And a long time ago I asked someone what the title of the real song was, and they told me 'Yaz'. Well yesterday (even tho I had discussed this SAME TOPIC several weeks ago) I realized the GROUP was Yaz and the song was "only you" (which you'll be familiar with if you've ever seen the teen classic "Can't Hardly Wait")

Next, this whole not having sex for three weeks thing really isn't working for me. Just sayin'.
JACKPOT! Today when I went out at lunch I went to London Drug for some stuff I needed. A long time ago, when I first got to Canada, I found these AMAZING hair ties that I haven't been able to find ANYWHERE in the US or Canada since. (they also are excellent for jobs not pertaining to my hair) Well they had 3!!!! sets of them so needless to say, I bought them all. SCORE!
Before lunch I also went to a meeting where I seriously felt badly for some of the people in the room. There was this boy that was *so* aggressive. It was kind of hot to watch tho. I'm a little smitten with him. But I hope to NEVER be on the end of rapid fire questions to which there is NO right answer from him.
Have I mentioned my negative feelings about the lack of sex?
I've also downloaded the first season of "Burn Notice" from iTunes. I believe its a USA show? It has a very sort of USANetworks feel to it. But I'm really enjoying it. And actors I enjoy keeping coming up in it. But the mom from "Queer as Folk" is also the mom in this show. And the kid's name is Michael. Its wierdly a very similar role for her. But she's much skinnier and blonde.
I still can't think of all the little random things I was dying to post. I'll try and post as they come back to me

Yesterday I spent 45 minutes writing out PAINSTAKINGLY detailed, IDIOT PROOF instructions. The problem is complex, I understand that. It took ME 3 days to understand it. Which is why I wrote you up step by step instructions, leaving NOTHING to chance, cuz I know you have no idea what the F* is going on.
I'm so glad you bothered to read them before going and WHINING to my coordinator so that he had to bring you to my desk so that I could spend 45 minutes walking you through them step by step, AS YOU WROTE THEM DOWN, even though you ALREADY HAD THEM IN WRITING.
And then you proceeded to ask BONEHEADED questions that CLEARLY prove you have not the first f*ing clue how our system works. AND YOU are the brainchild they sent to Canada - so god only knows how dumb your colleagues back home are.
I'm so glad you're in charge of testing, really I am.

This appears to be how it works in the Internet Age – at least if we’re talking about a salacious rumor a lot of people appear to think (or hope) is true.
Alabama Attorney General Troy King is finding this out the hard way, as in the course of a few days, rumors of him being busted in bed with a male aide have gone from whispers, phone calls and e-mails to in-state bloggers to national Web sites.
As I write this, there has been no official statement from King, Gov. Bob Riley or any other state official. No one has admitted or denied that King was sexually involved with a male aide, or that his wife caught them and threw him out of the house. As I write this, nothing is clear – except that lots and lots of people on the Web either think the rumor is true or want it to be true.

Horseradish Cream Sauce I wanted to post this because it looks like SUCH a good recipe for horseradish and I do love me some horseradish! Alton used it on raw oysters tonight. YUM | | | | | | 1 cup sour cream
1/4 cup grated fresh horseradish
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon white wine vinegar
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper Place all of the ingredients into a medium mixing bowl and whisk until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Place in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow flavors to meld. Sauce can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 2 to 3 weeks |
